Our Business

Peninsula Support Services Inc. is a community based organisation, which provides support to people with psychiatric disabilities and their carers living in our service delivery area. The organisation operates within the Department of Human Service's Southern Metropolitan Region, primarily in the municipalities of Mornington Peninsula, Frankston and parts of Kington. The Association actively promotes the rights and well being of people with a psychiatric disability, and their carers, and has a strong commitment to client participation.

Quality Objective

Our primary objective is to provide clients with the support needed to improve and enhance their quality of life.

Relevant standards

In order to achieve this objective, it is our policy to establish and effectively maintain a Quality Management System, in accordance with the requirements of:

  • The National Standards for Mental Health Services
  • The Department of Human Services Standards for Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation Support Services
  • The National and State Standards governing the delivery of Home and Community Care Services
  • The fifteen Principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
  • ISO 9001:2000

Client focus

Meeting the needs of the client is the focus of our activities. Services are provided in a manner that ensures that client choice, independence, autonomy and empowerment are maximised. Increased client satisfaction results from quality leadership, setting strategic direction, implementing policies to ensure that targets are met, and by the promotion of best practice.

Commitment of Management

PSS Board is committed to quality improvement and gives its full support to the Quality Management System and to following the associated procedures. The board will ensure training for staff in the Quality System functions and responsibilities and will ensure that the Quality Management System is well resourced and regularly reviewed.

 Responsibilities and Outcomes

All employees of PSS are responsible for improving quality. Through their efforts, they are contributing to the achievement of the organisation's vision and mission statement. This will be achieved through:

  • actively involving clients, staff and families in developing services
  • facilitating the provision of services tailored to individual and group needs
  • providing opportunities for communication and contact between clients and broader communities
  • the ongoing development and implementation of innovative service's models and the encouragement of innovation
  • providing stimulus for participation and learning appropriate to the needs of clients
  • continuing to make a positive contribution of social policy
  • advocacy and lobbing on behalf of people with a mental illness
  • always evaluating our approach and improvements in terms of clients and evidence of well-being, learning and social opportunities and sense of optimism in their future
